∞ All is broken

At the moment I’m working on reorganising my website (Again?! Yes, again!), and as usual I don’t do that behind the scenes, finish it and publish it, like any other sane person would, but instead work on it when I have the time and leave things as they are, when I don’t. Sooo.. ALL IS BROKEN! Meh..

Bear with me, I’m adding a lot of old projects, because I want to give a better view on what I’ve been doing in the past few years and where I’ll be going in the future, so this results in many links being broken, images are missing or outdated or don’t exist yet/anymore. So as I would say, when you visit my house, “Please don’t mind the mess, I’m working on it” ♥

“Happy is the man who has broken the chains which hurt the mind,
and has given up worrying once and for all.”

Last week I went to the Jan Toorop exhibition at Gemeente Museum Den Haag. I’ve always loved his work, but never had seen so much of it. I was so impressed by his incredible skill and his ability to make it look so easy.. It actually really moved me. I don’t remember the last time that happened, so I’m very happy we went! #toorop #gemeentemuseumdenhaag #exhibition

April 27th our second daughter Elin was born :). Since my new printing studio is on the other side of town, I decided to also get myself a little space nearby, so I can combine drawing and taking care of the girls a bit better. It is small, but it’s all I need to just be alone and focus. Can’t wait to lock myself up in there! June 11th the building will be open for visitors during the artistique route Parels van Bezuidenhout, so that’s my cue to start working again! #littlestudio #focus #drawing #parelsvanbezuidenhout #atelierroute

#19-23 Weekly Overview

The past few weeks have been quite intense because my mom finally went into the hospital to undergo a heavy surgery and we got notice we have to leave our studios pret-ty soon.. Yeahh..that sucks..So I couldn’t really focus on documenting my activities; I was happy to just get them done. Here’s a select overview of the past month:

“Better late than never”

I prepared these oldies to be screen printed in a while (I promised myself to finish another project before I can work on these), they were made a few years ago, but never finished and part of my “Better late than never” project for 2015.

Figure drawing again!

At my monthly figure drawing class we had a male model called Piet de Rots modelling for us. He was great and because we only had a few students that evening, I decided to draw 2 poses as well. Although I’ve been teaching figure drawing classes a lot lately, I was quite happy to see how smoothly I put him on paper after such a long time. My hand was acting up only a little bit, so that was really nice. I’ve still got it, Yeah!

Catharinaland Veggie Gardens

We’ve posted the flyers and slips for the Catharinaland veggie gardens. Hope to start the project soon!

Painting faces AND turds..

And in the middle of it all I went to the performance of Victor’s Wednesday circus group. I’ve been to all of their last few shows and took photos of them for the CircusKabel restyle, so I am growing quite fond of these kids. I helped out with their grime and ended up painting a turd-prop for the show haha..I love how these things just happen :P.

Tuesday Drawing Class

The last drawing class was themed Flora & Fauna. I arranged a small stuffed fox and a pheasant and asked my students to bring items they wanted to draw. I like how they are finding their own themes and styles within the framework of my lessons :).

Helping Hands

Victor finished installing the carrousel, with a little bit of help from Juniper haha (If she is going to be an engineer I’m not surprised!). We are going to add more arms to it, so it’ll be a 4-pallet table instead of 2, but we’ll have to wait for the new studio to start on that.

100 times Kugra

My friend Eli has been assisting and working with me for a while now and she has printed her first batch of shirts at my studio. I haven’t found the time to work with my carrousel on my own projects yet, but she definitely warmed it up! She helped me figuring out the flash dryer settings and worked her ass off to get 100 shirts done in such a short time frame :). She is great to work with and also very precise, which is great to reduse the chaos in my head at the moment. When I look at those neatly aligned piles of shirts, she makes me very proud! :)

CircusKabel

And last but not least, I printed some of the silhouettes for CircusKabel at their 5-year anniversary last Saturday! I really like how they turned out :) It is actually becoming a really cute series! More of these soon :).

Drawing sessions

A happy little snapshot of my Tuesday drawing class :). These sessions are getting better and better every single week. Not only their skills take huge leaps at a time, but also the mood is so great every week :). I couldn’t be happier with it!

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek18b

My little artist ♥

Another thing that melts my heart is seeing Juniper growing very fond of books and drawing! She has a big plate in my studio to draw on and spends hours on it in between playing. She actually colours in the faces other people drew on it hehe.

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek18c

A Carrousel!

Owww..finally the silkscreen printing carrousel was delivered at my studio! Something went wrong at the post office, so I had to wait for it for 4 days in a row (because the Track&Trace kept saying it would be delivered the next day). It came in 3 big packages, being more of a puzzle than anything else hehe, so Stefan and Victor put it together for me, thank you guys! ♥

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek18d

Dreams

And last but not least in the weekend Gloria and I silkscreen printed quite a few shirts at DREAMS Free Festival at F.A.S.T. Victor & Juniper were there with CircusKabel. People could bring their own items to print the Dreams logo on :). The weather was great, the people were awesome; it was one big celebration of sharing your passion!

Tuinen van Mariahoeve

Right after another meeting with Gemeente Den Haag, Staedion and Tuinen van Mariahoeve about the vegetable gardens I had a last look at the design for the promotional flyer and decided I didn’t like it at all..ahh well..that sometimes happens. I changed the size and cut out a lot of unnecessary text and created an entirely different look and feel. The flyers are accompanied by little registering slips to get your free garden, seeds and plants :).

Wijsgerig Festival DRIFT

For philosophy festival Wijsgerig Festival DRIFT in Amsterdam I printed a bunch of shirts for the crew. I like the design by Rosan Dekker a lot, so I really enjoyed printing this :). The raster just turned out great!

Into the Self

With my Tuesday drawing group we did a self portrait exercise with charcoal. Because I’m seeing this group weekly I’m starting to recognise and notice the different mental blockages of the drawing process. Of course looking at yourself in a mirror for that long and drawing every little detail of your face can be quite confronting. I caught myself quoting my yoga teacher on it being “drawing practice” rather than making a masterpiece, which made me think of how much mindfulness is essential in making art. I expect more of it becoming a part of my teaching :).

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek16a

Love them!

Saturday I did a last minute silkscreen printing workshop at fellow artists Rick & Veerle (Origin of Joy) during their Open Atelier in Rotterdam. I’m really starting to love the way children draw more and more and also the silkscreen print translations turn out so wonderful! Adult just can’t come up with the things kids do :).

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek16b

Also

For the rest I had a few fruitful meetings on running and upcoming projects, did a lot of behind the scenes stuff and finished the week with a proper Pajama Day with Juniper :).

∞ What’s Worth Keeping

For a while I wasn’t sure what I wanted with my so-called ‘web-pressence’. Ever since Juniper is born, my digital life has on one hand been set to the background and on the other hand I’ve become more active in promoting my workshops etc. Since January 1st 2015 I started keeping track of my activities to show what I’m up to, but mostly for myself not to forget that I have been a busy girl, although I didn’t make autonomous work.

A few weeks ago however I took my website down, because it wasn’t working for me anymore. I didn’t know what bits were important anymore and which weren’t, so I took some distance. I immediately missed (referring to) my website and making the weekly overviews, but it was good not to be busy with it for a while. When I put it back online last week, I could look at it with a fresh view and transforming it only took a couple of hours. I suddenly knew what I wanted with it. The portfolio-section and some texts still need a bit of work, but the rest of the website is done :).

In the meantime, I suddenly made more creative work, so I will definitely try to limit my online hours again! I took some time however to catch up on my weekly overviews, so that’s all up to date now :). And for the rest of this day, I’ll just close my laptop and go outside and to my studio (as soon as the little one wakes up)!

Workgroup Figuredrawing

Tuesday we did the first session of the weekly drawing lessons. I have a small group to start with, which can grow in time. So nice to work with a group that I will see on a regular basis ♥! We did an introduction and a little Figuredrawing Workgroup session on the anatomy of skulls. Next week: faces (with skin hehe)!

And last but not least we did the first kids party at Tekenatelier & Zeefdrukstudio Wilde Meijs! We had 21 10-year olds running around and silkscreen printing their Fantasy Creatures! I didn’t have time to make a lot of pictures, but the family did, so I hope to get them soon to put them online. The kids were great, the team was great and the family was as well :). Amazing day that made me very proud :D!

All done!

I really couldn’t wait to finish my sculpture, so Monday I took Juniper to my studio to sleep (because workers were busy in our house). Limited to her nap I did my finishing touches, big decisions and last but not leasts. This is how she’s become :). After drying for weeks I will paint her, but I’m not sure what colour/style yet. It really has been a great project. It got me out of my mini artistic identity crisis after becoming a mom and now I’m back to drawing withes and lycantrophes again ha! Getting to know this medium was refreshing, challenging and soothing. I will definitely do more sculptures in the future. Who knows, I might eventually become really good at it :)!

De Lamiis / Wilde Meijs

For a while now I have been thinking of switching names for my workshop audience. Although I love the name ‘De Lamiis’ and I get quite a lot of responses on it being an intriguing name, I also get too many people spelling and pronouncing it wrong and asking me “what it is” hehe. Because I was already going to use ‘Wilde Meijs’ for my design work, I decided that will be the name for all my “commercial activities” instead, like the workshops, clothing and commissioned work. And for my autonomous work I will be just me, meaning this website :).

So I had to rename and switch a lot of data on my WordPress sites, which was a lot of work, but all went well and I’m happy that I finally did. And all is not lost, De Lamiis will still be the name for the Publishing Agency (to be). I’m still working on that website, but that features a WordPress webshop (I finally found one that works well! Whoo!) and will sell different brands. As for now, the new logo for Wilde Meijs!

De Vloek zal voortbestaan!

Sympathizers of the squat De Vloek (The Curse) in Scheveningen are doing a 4-day protest called ‘Carnival van de Onderstroom’ (Carnaval of the Undercurrent) to fight for the existence of autonomous free spaces. They’ll be doing a lot of cool activities to show the diversity of their projects and people: Alley Cat bike rides, Street Raves, Pub Crawls, Raft building, a paper lantern march for “The Next Generation of little Pirates” and more!

Artist showed their support by making tiles to put up in the city. Most of them spray painted theirs, but I wanted to silkscreen print one. It felt good making this, it was fast and fun and veeeryy pink. I designed it as red, but the thing is, I don’t really like red.. But somehow I know my art is in my ‘red period’, yet I’m not really giving in to it yet. So this became pink :). I printed some tiles and a few mini-posters.

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek12a

Hector x Wolf

I was asked to make a design for clothing label Hector x Wolf to use during their live events. They have several different projects, so it is not clear how and in which one they’ll be using it, more on that soon :). I worked on this linocut design that will eventually be silkscreen printed. Not done yet, but I like where it’s going :). Also VERY happy that my hand is capable of doing linocutting again. A while ago I couldn’t hold a cup of tea..and now back to this. Very nice to see and realise this.

Lino Selfies

It had been a while since I did a workshop at Grafische Werkplaats Den Haag, but this week I assisted Ondine de Kroon during her lino cutting workshop. JUST ART!

The day after a selection of the students from Edith Stein College that did a T-shirt workshop at my studio in November came back to do another workshop. Last time they made a shirt for themselves, this time they produced a little collection of shoppers to sell at their art fair. It was great to see these kids again and see them so motivated!

Cuts and Bruises

Last week apparently I didn’t close the plastic bag of my sculpture properly, so it dried out too much. We had to cut her up and spray her to make the clay useable again. Good thing to experience though, because it really shows how you sometimes need to tear something apart to improve it and not to be afraid of loosing that good bit you’re proud of. It’ll become better if you destroy bits along the way :). With that in mind I chopped off her entire arm because it had the wrong dimensions and it was in the way of sculpting the baby, so “Off with that head! ehm..arm :)”. I’ll make her a new and better one!

Funny thing I just noticed: Because it is a self portrait, every little thing I do to her feels like I’m doing it to me. Now read back what I just said and look at it in the perspective of my wrist injury and my pregnancy. Art is great ♥

T-shirt Workshop

Thursday I did another T-shirt Workshop at my studio with some great results. I can’t help but love what people do during my workshops! I give them some guidelines and instructions and they surprise me every time. This specific workshop people already had their designs made (and some even already cut) at home, so we decided to do two layers instead of my intended one layer designs. I love being able to go with that flow and make every workshop personal :).

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek10b

Allowing ourselves to become fully human

And last but not least, Juniper and I went to the International Women’s Day Festival. Great workshop by Jens van Tricht about how we experience gender and emancipation for women AND men, also known as just humans!

“In essence, we are whole human beings, full of human potential. After birth, we are suddenly divided into two oppositional groups: you’re either a boy or a girl. Boys are supposed to have, develop and show only those human qualities labelled as ‘masculine’ and suppress the ‘feminine’ qualities. This internal division and seperation of our human potential causes many problems, both on a personal and on a social level. Women have taken on the challenge already for a long time, now it’s up to men to start exploring and developing the ignored, denied and suppressed ‘female’ characteristics in themselves. Only by allowing ourselves to become fully humans again we can achieve gender equality and justice in the world.”

Fabeldieren (Fairytale Creatures)

The Fabeldieren workshop with the neighbourhood kids was great. They liked it a lot and the results were really cute :). Because the workshop was a success and we already got in a request for a children’s birthday party before even doing the workshop, this will be available on demand now! Every school break I will try out a new workshop and the ones that are nice to work with will become available. The kids also told me what type of workshops they would like to do and what they liked about this one. Great to get some feedback from them :). I think next time it will be a drawing workshop only (so no silkscreen printing), but I’m still working on the concept.

Marketing Plans

Last week I wondered what effect spreading 200 flyers would have and turns out we did not reach anyone..not one kid. Everyone there got in through mouth-to-mouth. I was quite amazed and disappointed about that and later this week I decided to do a Like & Share giveaway on Facebook for the T-shirt workshop next week, but that didn’t get much shares either. I’m not sure what’s going wrong yet, but I have will be rethinking my promotional strategies, that’s for sure.. It’s not my favorite stuff to worry about, but essential.

#8 Weekly Overview

Bit of a weird week in which I didn’t document most of my activities, so this’ll be a short one. I worked on several things like the Intwined Tryptich and I had another sculpting class. I forgot to take pictures, but it is really becoming a proper sculpture! After messing around with anatomy, I have to start making decisions on style now, so that’s a whole different story :).

Fabeldieren (Fairytale Creatures)

I made some simple flyers for the upcoming Silkscreen Printing Special for kids next week and this time we actually put them up in every shared porch in a few streets. I’m quite curious to see what result that’ll have. More info: http://www.delamiis.nl/?work=zeefdrukspecial

CircusKabel Flyers

This week I made the flyer for the CircusKabel 5th year anniversary! Last week I took pictures of the kids to make silhouettes in the style of the existing logo. We wanted to use a style that we can use throughout the website, flyers and other media. This flyer is the first bit and I will apply it to the website soon :). Fun project to work on and I’m quite happy with how it turned out! It’s always nice to work for someone that, after giving some basic guidelines, just says “Do whatever you want, you’re the artist.” More of those assignments please :D.

‘The Art of the Hole and the Lump’

I was finally able to do another sculpting class. It is really great to discover a new medium like this. Every time I think the anatomy seems right now, it turns out about a million things are still a bit weird or just plain wrong when you look at it from a different angle haha. Also a good project to force me to stop thinking for a couple of hours :).

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek7b

The Zoo

Saturday we went to the Rotterdam Blijdorp Zoo. We had a great day, Juniper was amazed by all the impressions, but I also found it quite difficult to experience the sadness of it all. Most animals were still inside and their indoor areas are just horribly depressing… On the other hand somehow the trip constantly brought me back to the last time I visited Blijdorp during one of our drawing classes when I was studying Illustration. I really want to go drawing in a zoo or a museum of natural history in a while!

Also:

The group I did the Silkscreen printing course INTRO with came over another time to work on their projects and they all want to attend the second part EXTRA of the course, yeah! The remainder of the week I worked on printing the Intwined Tryptich, getting there slowly but steadily..I hope to put a big amount of hours in that next week.

Progress, progress..

I’ve been working on the Intwined Tryptich, reburning the screens, printing the first layers and retouching them a bit. Although things aren’t really going according to plan, it feels so good to finally be printing something for myself again after so many things for clients and during workshops. I can’t wait to actually print some new designs haha. More to come next week!

I went to the circus lesson Victor teaches on Wednesday to take some photos for promotional purposes and to use for the identity I’m designing for CircusKabel. Two works in progress from Wednesday’s drawing session. Left one was just a quick sketch to show my friend Eli how I build up my portraits, but it turned out quite ok, so I will be finishing it soon :). Tuinen van Mariahoeve

I joined the meeting for the vegetable-garden project at Stadsdeelkantoor Haagse Hout this week and I made a proof version of the flyer to accompany the official letter from Gemeente Den Haag and Staedion. Still needs some work and I think I want to do it on A5 instead of the A4 we decided on earlier, but it’s a start. More to come!

Intwined

Every now and then you have a silkscreen printing project that is really fun to do, but just every single part of the process that can go wrong, does. The reproduction of the Intwined Tryptich is one of those. I had quite a few weird things happen with the screen, including emulsion past it’s due date (never had that before..). I’m still enjoying it, but I’ve been busy with it for weeks and only just today I had the first results. And as one might expect (I already saw it coming), it turned out that the screen had not the same amount of detail as the 2011 version. And it should be the same…so once again I had to clear a few screens and I actually wiped all the prints I did today off (one very big plus of working on glass :))

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek5b

Last week..or not?

Also we did the last lesson of the 4-week silkscreen printing course INTRO. I had so much fun with this group and because they were kind of my pilot-group in my own studio we decided to work together one more time soon :).

#4 Weekly Overview

Work in progress

It’s been a bit of a weird week with lots of stuff suddenly going on in my personal life and mainly many appointments for new projects, so let’s call this week a talkative one? Not many visuals, so I’ll just give a little overview of the things I’m working on.

I’ve got a new design project coming up for an initiative by Foundation Colors that supports and stimulates women in their personal development. The project will consist of workshops and gatherings and I’m going to work on some of the visuals and probably develop a workshop with a creative theme. The project has great potential and I really look forward to help making this initiative a success :).

Also, the project Victor has been working on with Tuinen of Mariahoeve to create little neighbourhood vegetable gardens in the street I live in, has been given a proper ‘go!’. They did a similar project last year near our studios, which was a great success. This time I will be involved to design the leaflets, impressions and the signage for the gardens :). Because this is a funded neighbourhood initiative to improve cohesion between the residents, we can shape and design the project any way we like and I’m really excited to work on our own facilities for our herbs and veggies!

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek_tuinen

Fully operational!

We also finished another lesson of the silkscreen printing course INTRO, which involved burning their designs to the screens and experiencing the difference between working with stencils or light-sensitive emulsion. Another great step for me, because it shows that my studio is fully operational now. All facilities are up and running and I can finally do every step of the silkscreen printing process in my own studio. Things like the industrial sink and the UV-lamp had been lying around for ages, but now they are being used and I’m very happy to see everything falling in place the way I imagined it :)

WorkWorkWorkshops!

This week I did a workshop with a group of entrepreneurs that were coached by J en C Advies and their teachers. We followed many classes together and this was our final activity as a group :). It was so much fun, I loved showing them what I do instead of only talking about it! We also had the second class of the Silkscreen Printing Introduction course which was great as well. Great group to work with and nice results. Sooo, much more to come of these people and this course, yay :)!

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek6

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek3

New Territory

As for my own work, I did a sculpting class this week! Yeah really haha. I’ve been wanting to do it for ages, but never did and now this great sculptor Josine Croin came along who wanted Juniper and me to model for her, and I’m taking sculpting classes in return :). It was absolutely wonderful to work in a totally different medium and to get such practical and direct feedback again. I’m still getting used to fixing my anatomy in 3D, but I loved doing it!

JerneydeWilde_Weekoverzichtweek4

Another thing I worked on was improving my sewing skills. I always have a million ideas for projects that involve sewing, but actually I kinda suck at it, so I always end up asking my mom or Victor to do that part of the project. I want to be able to do it myself, so I bought this really nice book on eco doll making by Fiona Dalton which was on sale and started on a little DIY felt owl Kit Victor got me a while ago. It is just a funny little project, but it’ll get me warmed up for bigger things. It will probably take me a while to finish though, because I’m doing it in between my other work, but it felt good (no pun intended) finally putting myself to it.

#2 Weekly overview

This week has been quite busy, but kind of chaotic. Victor had a lot of activities for the circus, so I had a lot of stay at home ‘Juniper-shifts’ as we call them :). And although they are great fun and I do get work done when she’s around, focusing is just a lot harder hehe. I’m happy that I started these weekly overviews, because I’ve been doing so many small yet invisible things that I could feel like I haven’t been productive, but I have! It’s just a lot of behind the scenes stuff. I was running out of supplies for my workshops, so I ordered and picked up those. I also fixed small things like the template for my mails via Mailchimp (check it out if you don’t know it yet!) and finished a very urgent part of my administration. All not that fancy and very time consuming, but also very important. On the other hand, speaking of fancy, Victor has installed the industrial sink he took out of his old house (the demolished squat known as the Sambalbar) which makes my silkscreen cleaning unit quite fancy ;)!

Silkscreen Printing course INTRO

Thursday we had the first lesson of the Silkscreen Printing course INTRO. We made stencils and I showed how to make transparents for printing. The one-day workshops are fun, but I really love working with people for a longer period ♥! I already look forward to the next lesson.

#1 Weekly overview

Normally I’m not really busy with New Year’s Resolutions (I don’t stick to them anyway), but since the last year has been a very reflective one, it’s time for a change!

Inspired by Koen de Wilde (coincidentally not related), who posts about his activities with a weekly overview, I plan on doing the same. Koen is a great designer with really neat products and many inspiring and often collaborative projects. I can imagine he sometimes lost track of his activities when he decided to blog about them. For me at least that is the main reason for starting mine. I tend to forget how many things I’ve achieved in a week, so these overviews will be a reminder and also a way of keeping track of my productivity :).

Snowflakes!
Last week was great! We did the second Snowflake workshop for kids in the neighbourhood. We cut paper snowflakes and silkscreen printed them on tiny handmade pillows :). The kids had a great time and I’ll probably be doing this workshop again next year, it was a lot of fun. I plan on doing more of these special workshops during the school breaks, so easter, here we come!

More Snow!
The next day we drove to Limburg with friends for a relaxed and snowy 3day-sabbatical during the New Years celebrations. The dogs were outside all day, Victor and Maurice tended the fire and we had a great run in the dark forest right before the shift of the year, guided by little Mila. No computer or phone for me, for a proper reset. When we returned to The Hague I felt a bit annoyed being reunited with my computer and to do list, so I locked myself into my studio for the weekend, cleaning and reorganizing my projects. I finally made up my mind on which project I want to work on for now, so started on that. I also bought a new camera to finally take proper photo’s of my work again. I wrote my second reflective blog and my first weekly overview, which makes it a good week to start off the year! Best wishes to you all ♥

∞ Any road will take you there

Lately I’ve been stuck in the middle of all the projects I want to do; the ones that are popping up in my brain as we speak, the ones I started ages ago and deserve to be finished and the ones scattered around in my sketchbooks screaming “This is really great, you should do this!” when I come across them. Every morning I wake up with a different project that just moved up my priority list accompanied by tons of reasons why this should be ‘the one’ to start with. And one minute later I come up with the reasons why I actually should do another one.. *sigh*

Because of my wrist injury and my pregnancy I’ve had way too much time to think about my art and wasn’t able to actually do it for a long time. It’s not that I haven’t made anything, and the work I did was ok, but not the kind of work that makes me feel like I’ve achieved my creative goals and actually improved myself. As you can imagine, now that my hand is able to draw again (under strict supervision of many, many mini-breaks), my mind has raised the bar so high I don’t really have the guts to put myself out there anymore.

A while ago I thought to myself, “I just have to make so much work, that it doesn’t matter if it’s good anymore!” and today I took out a selection of the projects I really, really want to do. I started working on the one I picked this morning as ‘the one’ but got distracted by the one that got the same marking last night and I made up my mind. I made a freaking decision and I’m going to stick with it! All I have to do to make ‘great work’ is just start somewhere and see where my materials will take me :)

∞ Destined to Transform

Becoming a parent comes with many huge changes. Practical and sometimes difficult ones, like sometimes having to plan every living second of the day, but also way bigger things like suddenly not knowing who you are anymore (yeah really). Ever since Juniper is born, I’ve been redefining what I consider to be ‘me’.

I was filled with an overwhelming amount of love and an almost effortless timelessness took over my life when that little being entered this world. All I thought I knew is different. All that seemed important disappeared and suddenly all I had planned seems silly. I don’t know if every new parent experiences this, but I can tell you, for me, becoming a mom gave my life so much new meaning, but also left me very confused.

It is really beautiful to see how nature makes you go into a little cocoon during pregnancy, because after giving birth you really are a different person. Every time Juniper looks at me, she looks right into my soul and I am so aware of what she sees. It makes me work so much harder trying to be and become what I consider a good person.

Redefining myself comes with cutting off a lot of negativities and creating new ways of creative thinking and at this point I feel a strong need to share this process with the world. I plan on putting my ponderings down for the sake of ‘artistic documentation’ and simply me being the boss of my own blog (ha!).

“A witch’s soul is like a butterfly. They are both destined to transform.”

About a year ago I moved my entire studio to the other side of town and became part of a collective of really cool artists and friends. For a while it was awesome and I enjoyed my time there. However there were also quite a few things not working out (mostly me not having enough space and other details I will not bother you with ;)). So here I am, a new studio! I just moved to the other side of the building this time, but I hope this will last for a while :). Now I can give workshops properly and do a lot of things I wasn’t able to before. Still a lot of work to do, but I’ve done quite a few projects here already and am excited and happy! #newstudio #bigplans #hellyeah! #delamiis…
