‘Higitus Figitus’ – RAAM Prent

for the 24#3rd edition of Grafiekmagazine RAAM

I was asked to make a RAAM prent related to the predicament Grafische Werkplaats Den Haag is facing at the moment. The excistence of this wonderful printmaking space is very uncertain and all scenario’s are being considered: changing the concept, maybe downsizing, moving to another building?

When I imagined all that heavy machinery,  the amount of materials + tools making all those different techniques possible, I thought…
“It would require Magic to get everything moved.”
≈ just like Merlin’s bag

  • This work refers to the ‘Higitus, Figitus’ scene in one of my favorite Disney animations The Sword in the Stone (1963) – and for the Dutchies, Merlijn de Tovenaar –  where Merlin shrinks his entire inventory to be transported into a single bag.

My RAAM Prent was on the cover and accompanied by an article about my work, written by chief editor Jef Schaeps, which you can read below on this page. The 320 subscribers all recieved the print.

FUN FACT: The first Instagram-follower who could name ‘which famous Wizard’s bag this was inspired by’ was gifted a print ♥.

Can you spot all 8 item-hints from the scene as well? #zoekplaatje

Boeken gaan vóór, dat weet je toch!
