“Into the woods I go,
to lose my mind and find my soul”
A linocut series about the soothing effect of nature, when you let it speak to your sense of wonder and allow yourself to connect to it’s heartbeat.
The title was inspired by a very popular (yet mis-attributed to John Muir) quote. The words spoke to me, because when I go outside and surround myself with trees, things always seem to make a bit more sense, than they did before. Worries suddenly feel less relevant, emotions more approachable, and the things that scare me, smaller, knowing that I’m part of something bigger.
The Process:
Linocut print series on etching paper. The 2017 [001] print was my first time using ‘soft-lino’ and I immediately fell in love with it. I have never used traditional lino for my own projects since, because the risk of overworking my hand/wrist injury is a lot smaller and the amount of detail you can get from it is great!
First run in 2017
