Join me in this NEW course!

The main focus of this course is working from outdoor field studies and more detailed Botanical Drawings towards one or more multi-layered Blockprints of your favorite herbs and plants.

Alongside, you will be guided through the process of collecting and pressing plants, to make an Herbarium.

The first lesson will be on a Sunday at Duingebied Solleveld and the other 5 on Tuesday evenings at my Printmaking Studio (see schedule below).

Lessons

  • LESSON #1: Field studies @ Solleveld

    On the first Sunday we will start with an introduction about ‘Drawing from Nature’. You will make your own Herbal Studies, field notes and sketches and collect plants to start your own Herbarium. In this lesson you can experiment with all sorts of drawing materials and test different colour combinations.

  • Duingebied Solleveld, Ockenburg Den Haag

  • LESSON #2: Botanical Drawing + Herbarium Study

    During the second lesson we go into different styles of ‘Botanical Illustration’ and make more detailed Botanical Drawings. In this lesson you will decide if you want to make one bigger multi-layered print or work on several smaller two-layered illustrations for your Herbarium.

  • LESSON #3-5: Block Printing part 1-2-3 + Herbarium

    In lesson 3-5 we will transform our field studies and detailed drawings into one or more Blockprint Designs. We will make a multi-layered-design and print on different types of paper.

    Alongside these steps in our Blockprinting process, we will also work on our Herbarium at home and during the lessons.

  • LESSON #6: Experimental Printing + Presentation

    The final lesson is for experimenting with printing on other materials, ways of presenting your work and finishing everything up.

    After this full course you’ll go home with your field-studies, botanical drawings, your growing Herbarium and of course your set of multi-layered block prints!

  • No prior experience needed

    You don’t need any drawing or printmaking experience to do this workshop, we will work with a step-by-step programme, tailored to the groups preferences. You can bring inspiration to work with or draw more outside of the lessons, but it is perfectly fine if you don’t.
