Medieval Botanical Illustration
Get introduced to the medieval style of Botanical Illustration, do herbal studies and make a block print design of your favorite herb or plant.

During this 2-day workshop, we will enter the world of Medieval Botanical Illustrations. The lessons will be on two Sundays at several beautiful outdoor locations and at my Printmaking Studio.
On the first Sunday we will start with a short introduction about ‘Drawing from Nature’, ‘Botanical Illustration’ and specifically the medieval style. You will make Studies from the plants in your environment, with all sorts of drawing materials.
On the second Sunday at my studio, we will transform our field studies into a Blockprint Design, to resemble the typical medieval woodcut illustrations. We will print on different types of paper and make single-layer prints that you can later add colour to.
After the workshop you’ll go home with your studies and a set of prints!

Ik heb echt veel geleerd en genoten van deze workshop! In een korte tijd heeft Jerney veel informatie gegeven, geïnspireerd en mij laten oefenen, stapsgewijs en met een fijne opbouw, zodat ik met vertrouwen en plezier een mooie print heb kunnen maken.
Haar atelier was sfeervol, we hebben in een kleine groep lekker gewerkt en gegeten en werden goed begeleid. Ik ben super tevreden met de ervaring en het eindresultaat!

Medieval Period
The Mediæval European period itself is subdivided into the ‘early’, ‘high’ and ‘late’ Middle Ages, spanning the time from about the 5th to the 15th century (c. 476–1453). The early medieval period is alternatively referred to as the ‘Dark Ages’.
