I would really like to share a new workshop I’m going to teach: Medieval Botanical Illustration!

During this 2-day workshop, we will immerse ourselves into the world of Medieval Botanical Illustrations. The lessons will be on Sunday June 30th and Sunday July 7th at the beautiful terrain of Toverbosch.

On the first Sunday we will start with a short introduction about ‘Drawing from Nature’, ‘Botanical Illustration’ and specificly, the medieval style. You will make your own Herbal Studies with all sorts of drawing materials, sketching, experimenting and testing different colour combos.

On the second Sunday we will transform our favorite studies into a Blockprint Design, to resemble the typical wedieval woodcut illustrations. We will print on different types of paper, some textile and add colour to a few prints. After the workshop you’ll go home with your studies, a set of prints and 2 days spent in nature!

Tijdens deze 2-daagse workshop, dompelen we onszelf onder in de wereld van de Middeleeuwse Botanische Illustraties. De lessen zijn op zondag 30 juni + zondag 7 juli, op het prachtige terrein van het Toverbosch.

Op de eerste zondag starten we met een korte introductie over ‘Natuur-tekenen’, ‘Botanische Illustraties’ en specifiek de middeleeuwse stijl. Je zult eigen Plantenstudies maken met uiteenlopende tekenmaterialen, schetsen, experimenteren en verschillende kleurencombinaties testen.

Op de tweede zondag transformeren we onze favoriete studies naar een Linosnede Ontwerp, waarmee we refereren naar de typische middeleeuwse houtsnedes. We printen op verschillende soorten papier, wat textiel en voegen aan een aantal prints kleur toe. Na afloop van de workshop ga je naar huis met je studies, een set prints en twee in de natuur doorgebrachte dagen!
