Medieval Botanical Illustration

In June we did the tryout for my new Medieval Botanical Illustration course, and it was so much fun!

We spent the first day doing Herbal Studies at the Toverbosch terrain, getting to know the plants the participants chose. The second day they really made the loveliest Blockprint Illustrations.

I wanted to do a tryout for this course, to define the focus of the two lessons. Because there is always SO much I want to share about drawing and printmaking, I have to make decisions in what to put in an introductory workshop and what to put in a longer course. I love working with small groups for a bit longer, to really see their growth and process ♥.

Doing workshops outdoors is great, and you don’t need much to print, but I decided to do the 2nd (blockprinting) lesson at my studio in the future. Having all the equipment and facilities in a handy spot, rules out a bit of the choas that comes with learning a new technique, hehe.
